Lisa DeGuzman, RRT-NPS, RPSGT, CCHS

Pediatric Sleep Center Manager
Nemours Children’s Hospital

This presentation will introduce participants to a sleep center running routine and advanced sleep studies for pediatric patients. The presenter will discuss the types of sleep studies they perform and how transcutaneous CO2 monitoring helps guide their studies while also helping them adhere to the current guidelines for pediatric sleep studies. We will end with an overview of the specific protocols used in this sleep lab and discuss several case studies where continuous CO2 has helped influence decisions around patient care.

Learning Objectives:
  • Review the guidelines for pediatric sleep studies and how they differ from adult standards

  • Discuss the role of tcPCO2 monitoring and how it can fit into unit protocols

  • Discuss clinical scenarios and case studies where transcutaneous monitoring may be used to guide patient therapy
