Noninvasive CO2 Monitoring in Sleep Diagnostics: Methods, Limitations, and Benefits

Continuous CO2 monitoring to assess ventilation is important to achieve the best results from sleep studies, and understanding why is essential for sleep lab clinicians. This presentation explains how respiratory diseases impact the ventilation and perfusion status of patients commonly seen in the sleep lab and how, depending on the method of CO2 measurement, the quality of information can be affected.

This webinar will cover topics including:
  • The advantages and drawbacks of the more common methods of CO2 monitoring.

  • The most accurate and effective methods of monitoring ventilation in common sleep lab scenarios:

    • Titrating support during “split night” studies
    • Monitoring patients with ventilation perfusion mismatch
  • Continuing Education approvals:

1 contact hour Continuing Respiratory Care Education (CRCE) credit by the American Association for Respiratory Care. Course #185591000

1 CEC by the American Association of Sleep Technologists, AAST CEC Program Number A31359.
